Assin south go gay

18 July 2007, Ghana- It was exactly twenty-five minutes after five post meridien (5.25pm) when Cardinal Peter Kwadwo Appiah-Turkson arrived from Cape Coast in his grey Nissan Four Wheel Drive with registration number GE 6185V to join enthusiastic fellow Catholics at the outskirts of Abura Kwadoegya in a Nyankomase-Ahenkro bound procession.

The Cardinal in his red beret, white cassock and red material belt, walked majestically behind the jubilant crowd amidst brass band music, as he responded to cheers from Catholics and non-Catholics who had come from all over Assin South District to catch a glimpse of him.

The visit, being his maiden one after his elevation in October, 2003 as an elder of the church, this paper gathered, was aimed at encouraging the newly created Parish (Nyankomase–Katakyiase) to fellowship with the Parishioners.

After the forty-five minutes procession, Cardinal Turkson addressed a large gathering of Catholics and encouraged them to remain in the faith always.

Earlier in her welcome address, a member of the Parish, Ms. Dora Bonna, thanked Cardinal Turkson for taking time out of his many engagements to visit the new Parish.

She also appealed for a pick-up vehicle to enable the Rev. Father in-charge visit the various communities regularly.

Ms. Bonna explained that currently the only vehicle of the Parish which was donated by a benefactor, could not be used for visits in the communities, especially when it rains, due to the unmotorable nature of some roads in the area.
