“Brokeback” wins top film at gay awards The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation presented the award Monday at a ceremony to recognize mainstream media for their "fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community," the group said in a statement. "Brokeback Mountain" has won several awards and was considered a frontrunner for the best-picture Oscar but lost out to "Crash" at the Academy Awards. Other winners at the GLAAD awards included Newsweek for magazine reporting; "The Oprah Winfrey Show" for an episode focused on gay people's coming-out stories; USA Today for newspaper coverage; and Melissa Etheridge for best music artist.
