Cruz denies lesbian affair

11 Jan 2007- A recent photo shoot, which pictured Penelope Cruz grabbing Salma Hayek's tush, did nothing to quell rumours that the two actresses were having a gay relationship.

In fact the two Latin stars seem to think its all a bit of a laugh, or at least that's what Cruz said during an interview on The Late Show with David Letterman.

The host held up the offending picture and showed it to the audience but the actress, who had just flown back to New York after a 10 day holiday in St. Bart's, dismissed the suggestion.

She explained, "You know what they've been saying because of that picture? We are like sisters and we have some sense of humor... We did that in front of 100 photographers and the story now is that apparently we are lovers. I'm sorry to say, that is not the case!"

The pair posed for a series of pictures recently published in Interview magazine in the US and has been “just good friends” for the past six years.

Hayek and Cruz star in the action movie Bandidas that is released on DVD in the US this week.
