Kanye West
disrespected by gay comments made by Beanie Sigel

20 July 2007- He's
never proclaimed to be a thug, but that didn't stop Kanye West from standing up
for himself against a Broad Street Bully. Yesterday, during an interview with
Hot 97
radio DJ
Angie Martinez,
Kanye responded to comments
made by
Beanie Sigel, who also happens to be his Roc-A-Fella labelmate.
Kanye
said that he was listening to the radio one morning when he heard a quote from
Beanie,
advising
Kanye to "come out the closet." The statements were made in the
context of discussing the way
Kanye dresses, implying that
he was gay.
When asked about Sigel's
statements,
Kanye denied being gay, adding
"It's so disrespectful." Seemingly upset about the comments, he proposed to
Beans,
"Why wouldn't you come to me and talk to me about it?"
During the interview,
Kanye
also discussed Hip-Hop's homophobia, and expressed how comfortable he was with
his clothing, before going on to call himself a fashion icon.
The Chicago rapper/producer
went on to say that he would never say anything to bring anyone else down, but
also acknowledged that he was not looking to start any trouble with
Sigel, who was recently released from
jail. "I don't do the jail thing," he said, jokingly. "I don't do that."
