Becks called for ‘gay’ foul

08 Sept 2007- David Beckham spewed a vicious gay slur at a fellow player in his Manchester United days, according to the footballer who says he was slimed. Ex-Chelsea star Graeme Le Saux tells The Times of London that he jumped for the ball in a September 2000 game and caught Beckham’s head with his elbow, cutting it, drawing blood and promoting Beckham to call him ‘bleeping poof.’

That shocked me,” says LeSaux, who is straight. “That this somebody who is obviously not homophobic makes it even more significant. I’m sure it does not cross David’s mind to talk like that in, say, Elton John’s company, but as a reaction to an incident, I was fair game to be called a ‘poof.’ The change comes as LeSaux’s autography, “Graeme Le Saux: Left Filed,” is about to hit stores.

A rep for Beckham, now with Los Angeles Galaxy, called the claim “completely untrue” and said, “David would never say such a thing. It’s been seven years since this match that Graeme refers to, and he has never mentioned this to David personally.
