Fight Gay Acts in Schools -
Orombi
13 Jun 2007 - Uganda- "Acts of
homosexuality and lesbianism have infiltrated our schools, especially secondary
schools. I have personally joined the war against the vice and I want you to
join me," Archbishop Henry Orombi has said.
Bishop Orombi, the head of the Anglican
Church in Uganda, said this on Saturday while addressing Christians of Ndeeba
Archdeaconry in Kayunga district.
The Bishop who is currently on a pastoral
visit of Mukono Diocese that encompasses Mukono and Kayunga districts, said most
school heads have not come out strongly to fight homosexuality. He said they
were only concerned with how they can enrol more students without minding the
discipline of the children.
Bishop Orombi reaffirmed his stand that the
Church of Uganda will not restore links with churches in America that support
homosexuality. "We shall not associate with them even if it means losing aid. We
rather remain poor than accept aid which will in the end lead to moral decay of
society," he said amidst.
Bishop Orombi said the continued dependence
on donations was compromising the country's independence. He asked parents to
instill morals and discipline in children and called for the promotion of
education for the girl-child as a vital component of development.
Bishop of Mukono Diocese Paul Luzinda
lashed out at residents who pretend to be 'good Samaritans' but rob accident
victims of all their belongings. He also decried the increasing murder,
defilement and corruption acts in Mukono and Kayunga and urged residents to
repent and turn to God.
Area MP Sarah Nansubuga Nyombi was in
attendance.
